Introduction
Box Hill Chorale sometimes combines with other choirs or musical groups in performances.
There have been collaborations with the Melbourne Singers, Blackburn High School,
Hawthorn Band and Melbourne Welsh Male Choir, just to name a few. Also, for the past three years, Box Hill
Chorale has taken an active role in the Take Note Festival held in regional South Australia and southwest
Victoria. The festival is a great opportunity for the chorale to go on tour together and share music
with singers and instrumentalists in regional areas where musical resources are scarce yet highly valued.
Social Activities
Although our primary purpose is to sing, we also make time to socialise and get to know
each other better. Social events include the regular monthly bring-a-plate supper during Monday rehearsals.
We usually have a dinner instead of rehearsal on the first Monday after a major concert. There is always
time to socialise on our tours. From time-to-time, other group events are organised, such
as film nights or group bookings to concerts.
Fundraising Activities
Regular stall at rehearsals: Each week, the stall sells food, plants and other goodies with profits
going to the chorale. If you can donate something tasty or highly sellable on rehearsal night, those running
the stall would love to hear from you.
General fundraising: A number of other fundraising events are held throughout the year, including
the ever-popular chocolate drive, wine bottling and occasional raffles.
